The abuse.ch community is a global network of security researchers and threat intelligence analysts dedicated to tracking and disrupting malware, botnets, and cyber threats.

By contributing to abuse.ch, you’re not just sharing data - you’re making an impact. You’re actively helping to take down criminal infrastructure. You’re supporting threat researchers, strengthening cybersecurity globally and playing a real part in making the internet a safer place.

This Hub is a place to celebrate your efforts as a community, shout about the impact of your contributions, and stay connected with other contributors. Everything you see is powered by the submissions you make on the different abuse.ch platforms.

How it works

Your contributions are tracked through your abuse.ch platform accounts and aggregated into a community hub profile.

Updates are processed every 24 hours, meaning there may be a small discrepancy between your community hub profile and your abuse.ch account.

Community stats

From the homepage, you can access a unified view of community activity across all abuse.ch platforms. This includes:

  • Total contributions across all platforms, plus per-platform breakdowns
  • Top contributors highlighted on the Top 10 Leaderboard (ranking based on number of submissions over last 30 days)
  • Monthly contribution trends over the last 12 months
  • Most recent contributions submitted by the community
  • Badges earned, including rare and special ones! Learn more about the different badges you can earn.
  • The Community Hub is for you, the contributors, so data contributed by the abuse.ch team has not been included.

Your stats

Every abuse.ch community member has a user profile that reflects their contribution history and impact. Profiles include:

  • About section and user interests
  • Latest badge earned
  • Current streak (ongoing consecutive contributions)
  • Best Legacy streak (longest streak record)
  • Key contribution statistics across platforms
  • Recent submissions and activity feed
  • Earned badges, including progress and special badges
  • Options to share or download your profile

How to Contribute

There are four core platforms for you to contribute to, each specialising in a different aspect of malware intelligence.

URLhaus

A platform for sharing URLs related to malware distribution.

Submit API

ThreatFox

Focused on sharing Indicators of Compromise (IoC) associated with malware.

MalwareBazaar

A repository for sharing malware samples and associated hashes.

YARAify

For sharing and deployment of YARA rules that the community can use to scan files.

Here's a quick guide to start contributing

Select a platform:Choose the platform best suited to the intelligence you wish to share.

Authenticate:Create an account at auth.abuse.ch. This allows you to authenticate, submit data and query the platforms.

Read the policies:Before submitting anything, take a look at the platform submission policy for your chosen platform (URLhaus, ThreatFox, MalwareBazaar, YARAify), as well as the abuse.ch terms of use.

Submit data:Once you're ready you can start sharing IOCs, directly via the web interface or API. Detailed API documentation is available for each platform.

Remember... the more you contribute, the higher you'll rank on the leaderboards and the more badges you'll unlock!

How to earn badges

As a contributor you can earn badges for different activities — from reaching contribution milestones, to making an impact, and supporting the abuse.ch mission.

There are shiny limited edition badges, and those that are only handed out in very special circumstances. Each badge recognises your efforts but also signals serious kudos and bragging rights amongst other members of the community.
